SALE OF THE "WAIPIKO" JERSEY HERD.

Levin and Company Ltd., report haui ra held a most successful sale ot Mi C> Dormer’s well known Waipiko Jersey herd at Cheltenham on Juosdaj, lotu April. There was a large attendance u prominent Jersey breeders from all pans ol the North Island and from Greymouth. This herd is renowned as being the best butter-fat producing herd m the Donpmon, and the prices realised show that the buyei appreciate this quality. The who'e herd of cows and heifers averaged £B4 10s 6d, which constitutes a record for the Dominion. The demand for bulls, however, was not as keen as for, the females, and some of the younger bulls were turned out unsold. Mr Dernier still retains tho calves, a few of the older cows and three stud hulls, and Jersey brooders will bo pleased to note that so successful a breeder has not gone out of the business.
