When some motor cases were before the Magistrate’s Court this morning, Mr \V. (!. Iv. Kenrick, S.M., expressed the opinion that under present circumstances motor licenses should not ho granted to young men who should be put to more useful work in the country. Sufficient men over 30 years of age, or men unfit to do heavy physical work, could be found to act as motor drivers, and the authorities might well consider the question. Many people were somewhat amazed t„ see that the Virginia creeper, which covers one side ol the ohl building 1 01 - merle occupied by the Hank of Zealand, was quite dead. It transput's that someone entered the premises on Friday or Saturday night and cut the main stem of the plant. During the autumn months the old Bank was quite an object of interest to visitors with its festoons of copper-coloured leaves, and the act of vandalism is very much to he regretted. The matter has been placed in the hands ol the police.
