Siemen's manager, stated that when Richter's papers fell into the hands of Router's correspondent he appealed to the German Government to induce Britain to persuade Router not to publish them. His request. \v;im refused. A letter was produced showing that the German Asiatic Bank had been authorised to pay Pooky £25,000. Hermann admitted that' he paid £SOOO into the Hongkong-Shanghai Bank when he received the papers from Pooley.
