The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited., hare received the following cablegram from their London house, under date Ist April: —Tallow: We quote present spot values for the following descriptions— Fine mutton 35s per cwt, good beef 33s 9d per cwt, mixed 31s 9d per cwt. The market is firmer. Wheat: We htire sold an American cargo at 36s c.i.f. The market, is steady. There is very little demand owing to favourable crop reports American market prospects, outlook discouraging.
