ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
James Dcolan, seaman on a cutter, was drowned while swimming at Motuiki Island m Hauraki Gulf, this afternoon. lie is supposed to .have been overcome by cramp. The body has been recovered.
(PlB PRESB ASSOCIATION.) MASTERTON, March 5. A labourer named Thomas Jackson, 3& years of ago, was found dead in a cottage, this morning.
NAPIER, March 4. A fatality occurred this morning at Puketitiri, about 35 miles inland from Napier,, whereby a„single man named Allen .Nicholson, 23 years old, lost his life. Nicholson was driving a traction engine bringing twotruck loads of timber to town, and when, an embankment ahout a mile, along that road was reached, the steering chain carried away and the engine went over tiin side, dragging a truck with it into a gully twelve feet deep. Nicholson was struck 01 the head with the draw-pin of the trailer,. causing instantaneous death. DUNEDIN, March 4.
William Henry Waldren, hansom car? driver, aged 28 and unmarried, was tour.d dead in his bed at an early hour this morning. Heart disease was the Ciitise of death.
