Tho House Judiciary Committee heard.suffrage and anti-suffragist deputations „ demanding a constitutional amendment to tho United States laws providing for feminine suffrage. Dr. Mary Walker, trousered and silkhatted, a noted feminist specially permitted to wear male garb, made a vigorous plea for women's rights, threatening that women voters throughout the suffrage. States would destroy the Democratic party unless the demands were granted. The Senate later debated the ques* Lion. Senator Clapp held that all tho evil influences throughout the United States sought to prevent women getting votes as they instantly would right manv glaring social wrongs.
