DEPUTATION" TO HOX. W. II 11ERRIES.

The Hon. W. 11. Herries, Minister for Railways, was a visitor to Palmerston Xorth this afternoon. This evening he will meet the Borough Council in connection with the fencing of the railway to Terrace End, and also the matter of minimising the danger of the level crossings in Main street. The Council does not intend to bring before the Minister any of the other matters in connection with the railway station, preferring to hold them over until the Minister can be accompanied by the general manager. Mill dev. The Chamber of Commerce is also to be represented at the meeting, when it will place before the Minister the question of u rebate on th<> charges made for the carriage of wool and flax, when such have to be rehandled as a result of the bales becoming W"t.

To-morrow Mr Herries proceeds to Fox ton to meet the Harbour Board.
