NATIONAL CONFERENCE OPENS. (Bl ELFXTEIO TELEGRAPH—COPYRIGHT.) IPkb Press Association J WELLINGTON. Oct. 4. The second national conference of the Reform Party opened to-day. Mr E. H. Williams, of Hastings, was elected to the chair. Amongst tho.se present were the Premier (Mr Massey) and members of the Ministry, Reform Parliamentarians and about 200 delegates. The president, in a short speech, congraulated the conference on the muster and the vitality oi the Reform movement. He emphasised the necessity for strong organisation in order to return more members next year, particularly as the carrying out of the Reform policy had been so badly obstructed.
A motion of condolence to Lady Russell was carried, and a similar motion in regard to the late. Mrs Newman was also passed. The annual report was adopted.
