Mr Percy Hunter, Director of Immigration, has returned from London via America, where ho made special enquiries in the West with a view to the possibility of the development, of trade in the two countries. He was convinced that there were bright prospects for trade and the development of va.*t new markets in meat, butter, wool, and other commodities in view of the removal of the duty on wool and food stuffs. He strongly recommended strengthening Australian representation in San Francisco. Chicago, and Vancouver, and the increase of steamer facilities.
