The Public Works Department has accepted the following tenders:—Manufacture of a dredge for the Waihou river improvement, Stevenson and Cork Engineering Co., Port Chalmers, "£7677 ; erection of post office at Tuakau, Mcpherson and Harvey. Tuakau, I'lOoO; extension of Baleluiha road bridge, Watson, Rhodes and Son, Duncdin, £.5788; erection of Cowan bridge, Buller river, S. and R. Atkinson, Westport, ; Okahu tunnel contract, Stratford Main Trunk railway. William Forrest. Auckland. £97,000. The following tenders for the tunnel wiTe declined:—McMillan.
