EGMONT AGRICULTURAL SHOW.
Tho twenty-eighth annual show of the Egmonii A. and P. Association will bo held at Ilawera on November Bth and 9th, and, judging by tho schedule which has just been issued, the exhibition will bo one of tho most attractive that has been held in tho Taranaki district Tho special prizes on offer, including soma valuable trophies, make up an imposing total. Besides the trophies, medals, etc., a sum of £I3OO will bo available in prize money. Tho whole scheme is comprehensive, and tho classification creditable. In cattle, a class for pen of two yearling heifers has been added to-various sections, For tho exhibitor gaining most points in purebred Jerseys, Holsteins and Ayrshircs, the New Zealand Shipping Company has donated a silver challenge cup, valuo twenty guineas, to be won twice in succession. Special attention _is paid to dairy classes, additional prizes being given.in tho purebred classes for tho cow showing most points in milk vessel. The butter-fat competition is again a prominent feature, £1717s being offered in prize money, besides a gold medal, Some of tho leading factories have contributed towards tho prize-money in the butter-fat competition, and to a new class for bfest cow for cheese makingy with casein lost combined. This latter class promises to be quite as successful as the butter-fat competition, and will bo invaluable lo chccso factories. Both competitions will bo under tho supervision of the Dairy Commissioner and staff. Tho sheep classes aro well varied. A challenge cup is to be competed for in the fat classes, and a first prize of seven guineas in the class for fivo lambs (freezers). In pigs, championships are given for Berkshire boar and sow. Draught horses should again bo a strong feature. A championship' of £7 7s is given for the draught entires, and tho other draught horse classes aro well endowed. In thoroughbreds and carriage and coaching classes the prize money has been doubled. Tho ring competitions are always very popular. Over £IOO are offered in prize money. In tho hunting competition on tho first day tho first prize is £2O, in addition to a challengo cup. On tho second day the leaping competition is the chief class The dairy produce classes are arranged under tho guidance of the New. Zealand Dairy Factory Man-, agers' Association, and gold medals and tho Association's cup in butter aro given in addition to good prizo money. A special pavilion lias been built for dogs, slid the section will be made an important one. Tho Ilomo industries division should maintain its popularity; a challengo trophy is offered for most points in cookery, and in tho fancy work section tho points prizo is a sowing-machine, School competitors arc well catered for. Taking into consideration the many inducements held out, it can hardly be doubtocl that this year's venture will be rewarded with record entries.
