BOWLING.
Following the opening of the Palmerston bowling green yesterday afternoon by the President (Mr J. A. Nash) members welcoihed the return of the season with all their enthusiasm, and an exceedingly pleasant time resulted. The presence "of a number of visitors from various parts added tp the social interest"of the gathering, and Mrs' J. A. Nash kindly provided afternoon tea. 1 The custodian (Mr Watson) had brought the condition of thr>' sward up to a high pitch, and after the jack had been bowled by the Mayoress the lovers of the game took charge. Rinks were drawn, representing the President and the Vice-President, and when the aggregates were made up it was found that the Vice-President's team had won by four points.
