LAWN TENNIS.
The annual meeting of thc:Palmerston North Lawn Tennis Club will' be held to-morrow' (Friday) evening at tho offices of Messrs Hankins and Fitzherbert, Main street, and it is hoped that members will roll up in largo numbers.. The President's report shows that tho last season was a successful one, both socially and financially, but at the same time tho membership fell off a little, owing to tho ratbr unsatisfactory nature of tho courts Tho committeo, realising the position, wisely took steps, to put the courts into proper order this winter, and voted a sum of £25 for that purpose, with the result that tho whole lawn is probably now in better condition than probably now in a bette rcondition than it has been for tho past ten years, and it is confidently expected tliat the coming season will be tho most successful in the' history of the Club Mr'Alex. Watt., tho caretaker, is entitled to the highest, praise for this improvement, as the whole of the renovation of the courts has been the result of his assiduous attention during the winter.
It is more than likely that tho Club will apply for tho New Zealand championship for tho season 1912-1913; as it is now felt that the courts are in such a satisfactory condition as to warrant a championship meeting being held upon them.
