ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
Mr Davis Sturiock, second steward of the steamer Rotorua, was found dead in his bed at Lyttelton. He had been ill for several .days. Deceased, was a married man, his wife residing in England. The body of a male child, three or four days old, was found by some boys on a vacant piece of ground at Wellington. At Wellington yesterday a body was seen floating in tho Harbour, and taken to tho morgue. From papers found it was ascertained that the deceased was named James M'Glashan, and was a native of Aberdeen, Scotland, Deceased was of stout build, and about sft llin in height, and apparently about 35 to 40 years of ago. In the pockets were found £lO 12s 2-jd in money, and a bank draft for £4O to tho Bank of N.S.W., Masterton, drawn on tho Royal Bank of Scotland, Aberdeen. The Masterton polico report that deceased was not known there, and that the duplicate of the draft had been lying at tho bank for some time without being inquired for, As tho draft is dated 25th July, 1911, it is considered that deceased had only recently arrived lin tho Dominion. , The other effects included a left-luggage ticket, two watches, and a m'emo< bearing the signature of Lawrence Donald, Wairarapa. ''
(Peii Press Association.) ASI-IBURTON, Oct. 5. A middle-aged man _ named Richard Milner Buchanan, bailiff, and a longstanding resident of Ashburton, recovering from a drinking boul., was found by the members of bis family in great pain, about 4 o'clock this morning, and died shortly aftenvards. Strychnine was in .the house, and it is understood that it is a case of suicide by poisoning. The. man was dead when tho police arrived.
