A meeting of the Management Committee of the Manawatu Rugby, Union was hold last evening, and attended by Messrs Gibbons (chairman), W. Boon, McWilliairis, Groathead, Dickel, Foote, Pawson and W. McKenzic (sec-
rotary). Saturday, August sth, was fixed by Mr W. T. Parata as the date for the Maori match. A letter was received from Uie Horowhenua Union, stating that next Saturday would be suitable for tho rep.
match, and that .Immediately after the game a meeting would be held to consider the amalgamation of representative teams.
The appointment of the referee was left to the Horowhcmia Union.
In consequence of intimation by the Oroua Sub-Union that Taylor would be unable to play on Saturday, it was decided fj'iat Ins place- be taken by Briscoe (Palmerston). The Athletic Club notified that the match with Kin Toa, to have been played on Saturday, had been forfeited "by the junior captain" "without authority. The Club asked that the game bo, played at a later stage—Tho Committee decided that it could not interfere in the matter.
W. Cant was added to the Palmerston North junior team, and E. Mia and W. Reid to Athletic IV. Entries were, received from Athletics, Kia Ton and ■ Palmcreton for the Abraham Cap Two rounds will be played, commencing on July loth. No. 3, Showground, was set apart for the hockey match, Palmcrston P. and T. v. Mn.stcd.cn P. and T., to bo i.luyetl at 1.30. p.m. next Saturday. A request is made to referees not to aHo iv spectator;; on the inside of the oval at the Showground. Messrs Gibbois, McManavyay, Pawson and Iho secretary wore appointed to deal with the question of amalgamating with Horowheinia. Tlio secretary will be manager of the rep. team, Another match with tho Oroua SubUnion is to be arranged later. Tho improvement of football formed tho subject of some discussion, and among the methods suggested was a district scheme having for its object tho division of Pidmcrston into four parts and Feilding into two, enabling ak teams to play on practically eqti.il terms next season.
