CORONATION DAY CONCERT.

COMMITTEE MEETING.

Tho committee of tlie Overseas Club and Navy League, which arranged the successful patriotic concert held at the Opera ~ ;Housc on tho evening of Coronation Day, I met last night, Captain Hewitt _ presiding over an attendance consisting of ;' Messrs C: H. Warden, C. W. Naylor, 0. ' S. Wood, E. D. I-loboh, and Brown, Mr Wood, who acted as secretary for the demonstration, stated that a surplus of [ £l3 had resulted from tho concert after all expenses had been paid, and he moved that £lO of that sum bo donated, to the hospital funds. This with the Government subsidy of 24s in tho £ would bring the amount to £22. Mr Warden thought tliat as tho children had assisted so, materially at the concert j the money should go towards the Child-1 ron's Ward Fund, and.ho moved to that! effect. Both motions were carried. j The Chairman and several present com- j plimented Messrs Naylor, Wood, and Warden on their very successful effort, and a hearty vote of thanks was passed to those gentlemen, and also to Misses Paget, for decorating the s.tago; Miss Pecs, for tho scroll work; and Mr Gray and those who had helped with tho musical items, for their assistance. It was decided to annually celebrate Empire Day in a similar manner. Tho question of admitting children to the membership of the Overseas Club was brought up and discussed, tho secretary stating that ho was at present in communication with London on tho matter, ■
