In the House of Commons Mr, "Wedowood, Liberal member for Newcas-tle-undcr-Lyme, asked Mr ■Asquith whether, in view of the Governments defeat in the Lords, he would withdraw the Bill and recommend the creation of Peers in order that the will of tho .people might prevail. ■ Mr Asquith said the Government did not intend to withdraw the Bill.
