In a letter to Mr Fred Pirani, dated Kent. May 25, Mr G. H: Bennett, of Palmerston North, says: Tho scenery hero is verv fine; in fact all Kent and Sussex resemble-a-well-laid-out park. At the joint meeting of tho committees of the Overseas Club and Navy League last evening Mr C W. The death is announced of Mrs W. 11. 'Trimble, the wife of the librarian of the Hocken' Library. She passed away _at Auckland, where sho has been enjoying a holidav. The late Mrs Trimnlo was herself a very capable journalist, and her connection' with letters was not confined to the daily press, for sho was avalued contributor to tho pages of the Atlantic Monthly. The deceased lady was a daughter of Rev. John Nelson, a Wesleyan minister of tho English Conference, and sho was educated -it, Home for a teacher of music and English literature. No ono anticipated so sudden a termination to her career, for tho symptoms of a fatal disease were only diagnosed a few days before sho succumbed.
