Earthquakes occurred in Central California and Western Nevada. _ Trivial damage was done, but a panic seized the citizens of San Francisco and Santa Rosa. They made a. pell mcll rush from the large buildings in 'Frisco. The telephone and telegraph operatore fled from their posts and the services were suspended until they realised that the danger had passed. A lodging-house inmate fell dead from flight. The judge, jury and attorneys sitting in'the'State Court at Carson City fled from the Court house, fearing its collapse. Reno also experienced the shock.
