AUSTRALIA'S LABOUR LEGISLATION.

HAS IT INJURED HER CREDIT? (BX ELKO™;) TISLEQBArH-COPyBIQHT ) IPKH PhBBB ARnOOIATION.) LONDON, June 14. A deputation of London Chamber of Commerce waited on Mr Fisher respecting land tax. The speakers who voiced their objee-. tions included Sir Montague Nelson. _ Mr Fisher said tho tax was imposed in the interests of the Australian people, owing to evidences of development being retarded owing to land being held for speculative purposes. If there were any anomalies apart from this policy ho was prepared to deal with them. He declared that investors wero unable to produce evidence that Labour legislation had depreciated Australian credit. Tho production' of the Commonwealth was never greater and land settlement was increasing. There was no evidence of tho crushing effects of Labour legislation. Tho tax had not lowered land values, and the High Court could be relied on to safeguard the interests of those, affected. Mr Fisher strongly objected to the attacks oil Australian legislation.
