(Pee Peers aprowatioi'.'s • AUCKLAND, Feb. 26. Tho trial of Albert Alfred Cash, who is charged with the murder of his wife, Charlotte Sarah Cash, at Parawae, near Helensville, on December 25th last, was continued on Saturday before His Honor Mr Justice Cooper and a jury. The case for the prosecution closed at 6 o'clock, and when the Court resumed, after dinner, Mr McVeigh opened for the defence, which is on the grounds of phthisical insanity. Tho case will be resumed on Monday morning. The jury were locked up at the Star Hotel. CHRISTCHURCH, Feb. 26, The body of an old man named John Halloran was found lying faco downwards in the Avon River this morning. The deceased left the house of a relative, where ho was living, on Friday morning, and was last seen alivo in town the same afternoon. When found, lie was holding a handkerchief in his left hand, and appearances went to show that he had rolled down the bank into the river.
