THE HINE CHARGES.
MR HANAN CHAIRMAN OF COMMITTEE. \ iFEB PBEB9 ASSOCIATION.! WELLINGTON, Oct. 6. • The committee appointed to inquire into Mr Hirie's charges met this morning. Mr Hanan ;was appointed chairman. The press will not bo admitted till the actual taking of evidence begins. The Chairman stated that though liberty -would be given to public evidence, there would be no right of comment. In reply to a question ae to whether counsel would be admitted, the' Chairman declined to give any information at present. The' committee adjourned till Wednesday morning. . {By Oub Pabliamentaby WELLINGTON, Oct. 6. The committee that i 6 enquiring into Mr Hine's charges sat for forty minu,teff only. Mr Hine was not present. _ After the adjournment the only communication Mr Hanan .would make to press representatives was that he had been elected Chairman and that the next meeting was fixed for 10.30 on Wednesday. Mr M. Myers was present to represent Mr Hine and sent in a note to the committee, but it is not known whether they decided to admit him later on or not. We will know next Wednesday.
