1 NEW SOUTH ISLAND TRACK. (Peh Phess AssociATioN.T ! CHRISTCHURCH, May 26. In the course of an interview, the Hon. T. Mackenzie stated that the Tourist Department had had a most successful year, and a good number of the country's resources had been turned into gFo,fit.. {Jp to the end of last year the apartment would show a net profit of between £6000 and £7000. At present he was anxious to do some more work in connection with Mount Cwk, and also to link up the road systems of the east and west coasts by a track over the mountains from the Hermitage to , i Copland Valley, When that was done he Relieved it # would form the grandest tourist road in the world. The link required would not be a long one, though somewhat difficult. Huts were being built on both sides, and with but a modest expenditure, he expected very good results.
