CHRISTIAN ENDEAVOUR UNION.
(Contributed.)
The half-yearly rally; of the Manawatu and Rangitikei Christian Endeavour
Union was held at Bunnythorpe yesterday. Considering the unfavourable weather and the long distances most of the Endeavourers had to come the attendance was very good.
Tho aftornoon session opened with a devotional service conducted by the Rev. T. T. Thomas, B.A. This was indeed a season of refreshing from the hands of the Lord, yet it was but a foretaste of the good things that were to follow. The Rev. F. Mac Donald then presided over the session, when two splendid papers were read and discussed. The first was on "Our Pledge" by Mrs R. Horn, and the second on "Holiness" by Mr J. C. Glover. These papers and the discussion that followed proved most instructive, helpful and beneficial. An adjournment was made to the Oddfellows' Hall, .whero tea was provided by the local society, and a hearty vote of thanks was passed to them for tho right royal way in which they had entertained tho visitors, but which had been to them a labour of love. A short business meeting , of the executivo was then held.
Tho evening meeting was presided over by the' Rev. T. T. Thomas, 8.A., President of the Union. After the opening exercises addresses were delivered by the Rev. G. G. Cull, of Feilding, and the
Rev. G. Frost, of Sandon. Tbeee addresses were helpful and inspiring, and . were listened to with great interest by all present. The Rev.. J. Sharp and Air Lobb also spoke a few words of encouragement. , The following societies responded to tho roll call:—Broad street Methodist, Cuba, street. Methodist, Palmerston North Baptist, Rongotea Primitive Methodist, Bunnythorpe Methodist, Feilding Primitive Methodist, Feilding Methodist, Pohangina United, Feilding Baptist, Ashhurst Bible Class. The following juniors sent responses: —Broad street Methodist, Cuba street Methodist, Palmerston North Baptist, Feilding Primitive Methodist, FeildI ing Methodist, Feilding Baptist, Ashhurst Bible Class. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded to those who had delivered addresses, written papers, and all who had helped in any way to make the gathering a success. The meeting was brought to a close by singing the Doxology and the Benediction pronounced by the Rev. C. B. Beecroft. Ere we started for our dnfe'rent homes supper was partaken of, and we left with pleasant recollections of our visit to Bunnythorpe, feeling that we had had a soul-inspiring time and that it was good for us to be there.
