(Per Press Association.) "WELLINGTON, May 25. Alice Mary Anstice, a young woman, was charged at the Supreme Court to-day before the Cliief Justice with having performed an illegal operation. Mr W. H. D. Bell prosecuted on behalf of the Crown, prisoner being represented by Mr T. M. Wilford. The case was heard behind closed .doors, and the publication of evidence was forbidden by his Honor. After four hours' deliberation the jury failed to come to an agreement. A re-trial will be taken on Wednesday next.
