The authorities have discovered that two paintings by Rembrandt and Murillo and several other pictures in the Hermitage Gallery here have been replaced by clcver forgeries. Great consternation has been caused, particularly as Lehmann, one of. the directors of the gallery, has just been convicted of replacing the Imperial jewels with imitations.
