RIOTS IN CORK.
THE O'BRIEN AND REDMOND
FACTIONS
(By Electric Telegraph—Copybight.) [Pee Press Association.! Received May 25, 10.5 a.m. LONDON, May 24. Cork is divided into hostile camps, one being Mr O'Brien's "All for Ireland" League and the other Mr Redmonds United Irish party. _ . The disturbances continue. One faction, armed with "hurleys" and stout sticks,* invades the other's territory and a fight follows. Many heads were broken and thirty injured in the last encounter. The police had to charge the rioters with batons. Tlk> priests are endeavouring to restore harmony.
A cablegram received earlier in the month stated that speoial police precautions were being taken to prevent disturbances at the Redmondite. gathering at Cork, because many farmers in sympathy with the Independent Nationalists intended ■ visiting the city, in the interests of the "All-for-Ireland" League, of which Mr O'Brien is the moving spirit. The Redmondite gathering in Cork is evidently a counterblast to the O'Brienite gathering there on March 31 last, when the "All-for-Ireland" League was inaugurated. Lord Castletown attended the inaugural meeting of the league, and Lord Dunraven (of Irish land reform aJid Devolution fame) wrote expressing his sympathy. The object of the All-for-Ireland League is to extend throughout Ireland the new political spirit and to bring together men of all parties and religions, whose chief grounds of difference have been removed, by land purchase, into common endeavour for Ireland's good.
