POHANGINA.

(Fbom Our Own Correspondent.) Miss Picrcy, who has been teaching at tho Pohangina, School for tho past five yeavs, has been transferred to Turakina and Miss Dowling has been temporarily appointed to the position, and will take up her duties on the 18th inst. In this connection the Education Board informed the committee that it was almost impossible to obtain the services of an experienced teacher for country schools. Miss Dowiing has served under the Board as a pupil teacher, assistant, and sole teacher, and was successful in passing heV examination in January, 1909, for a teacher's certificate. Tho committee is sorry to iose the services of Miss Piercy, who has been most succcssful with her pupils. The rcccntly-formecl Technical School classes are progressing satisfactorily. The committee, however, is greatly disappointed at the non-success, so far, of; their requests to have the class room equipped. They have mad© repeated requests to the Education Department for the necessary apparatus, but ftp to the present no response has been received, the consequence being that the room is absolutely bare, with tho exception of one table put in by tho committee. Tho school has been open for months now, 'find Government made a definite promise to equip it to the extent of £50, but that is as far as it has got. Up to the present all tho classes, with the exception of tho wool-classing and dressmaking, have been held in tho school. Mr Cahill, wool-classing instructor, hold his lirst class last week. There was a very good attendance, and it is possible' a class will be commenced at Komako. Arrangements have boon made for the Technical School Committee election to take place on the same night_ as the ordinary School Committee elections.

The Domain Board has leased six acres of its ground to Mr Moore at £11 per year. The remaining four acres has lately been in crop, and will now be levelled and sown, with tho idea of converting it into a recreation ground.
