Some settlers in British Columbia have communicated with Mr Taverner, Agent-General for Victoria, stating they desire to emigrate owing to the rigorous nature of the Canadian climate, and ask on what terms Victoria will grant land to be worked co-operatively, and probably held collectively. They estimate they will number a thousand families, and add that they have no desire to speculate in land and economy is the only reason f-or co-operation. Mr Taverner replied that the Victorian delegation will probably be. returning via Canada, and meanwhile he is advising his Government of the proposals made by the settlers.
