AUCKLAND, April 6. The Hon. R. McKcnzie dealing with the allegation of unfair treatment of the North Island in tho matter of railway expenditure points out that the £72,000 South Island railway vote last year was for works completed some time ago. For roads last year the North Island was voted £195,000 more than the South Island and that road and railway votes combined were —North Island, £635,750; South Island, £603,743.
