BOWLING.

A match was played to-day between members of the Australian cricket team, who are enthusiastic bowlers, and a local rink. The visitors were represented by Messrs Whitty (South Australia), Facey (Tasmania), McKenzie, and Major Waine, skip (N.S.W.). The Palmerston players were Messrs Reed, Thacker. A. Pickering, and Young (skip), the "lastnamed being an ex-Victorian player. The green was very bare, making it difficult for the Australians to gauge the strength, but despite this great drawback they played an excellent" game, the lead (Whitty) and skip (Major Waine) distinguishing themselves with some clever shots. The match ended in a win for the home team by 23 t-o 17. The Australians frequently had their opponehts in difficulties, and towards the close were likely winners, but the luck was against them.
