The Rev. Bates wired to-day : —Southeasterly winds moderate to strong, expect showery and changeable weather, probably colder, glass rise slowly. A very excellent specimen of lucerne, grown bv Mr J. Balsillic, Kairanga, was on view at the A. and P. meeting to-day. Though the grass was only sown on December 24th, and tho weather has been very dry, it had attained a height of two feet. liayward's Pictures' tenancy of tho Opera House closes this week, and the show opens in its permanent building— tho Zealandia Hall —on Easter Monday night. The electric lighting , apparatus and dynamo at present in use at tho Opera House will be removed to the hall, which will bo lighted throughout by electric light. Other arrangements will bo made for the convenience and comfort of patrons at the new location of the Pictures. Mr Hugh Wilson, Mr liayward's general manager, was in Palmcrston to-day in connection with tho necessary arrangements. He left for Auckland by the express this afternoon, lie will return to Palmerston and act as manager of the local show until a permanent manager has been appointed. Mr Wilsons informs us that an agreement has been entered into by which Palmerston will receive the picture programmes that are being specially imported for Mr West's new theatres in Wellington and Christchurch, which open this week. This agreement will come into operation on -April 1, and about the middle of April Palmerston audiences will have tho opportunity of seeing films that have only previously . been shown in Auckland, Wellington, and Christchurch, cach programme com-' prising 7000 feet of film, as against the 6000 feet that it has hitherto been possiblo to show nightly. Mr Wilson informs us that it is purely business considerations which have prompted the removal of Havward's Pictures from tho Opera House to the Zoalandia flail. There has been no disagreement of any kind with the Borough Council, and relations between them and the manage-, rftent are of tho most cordial nature. A change of programme weekly will be submitted at the Zealandia Hall.
