AUCKLAND, March 11,

Notice was served by the New Zealand Shipping Company on tho Auckland Harbour Board to-day of its intention to claim £163,687 damages causod by tho striking of the Kaipara on an uncharted rock in Rangitoto Channel on January 14th. , . • . j The damage to the ship is put down at £81,000, and to the cargo afc £82,687. In the grounds of the intended action as set out it is alleged that tho Board was guilty of breaches of duty and negligence, but for which tho accident an-d consequent damage would not havo been brought about.
