CHRISTCHURCH, March 12,
At the adjourned inquest on James F. Trengrovc, who oommitted 6uicide on Wednesday by cutting his throat, his wife was' now fit to give evidence. She said Trengrove had been given to intemperance, and often ill-treated her. On Wednesday morning 6he had packed her intending to feave the house. Trengrove had 6aid she would ncver leave. H© had got a tomahawk from the washhouse, and raising it with both hands had struck her heavily on the head. She had been stunned. Her husband had often threatened to "do for her" and himself. He had been acting strangely for some time. The Coroner, without comment, returned a verdict of suicide while of unsound mind.
