"RAGGING" AT WANGANUI.

(Peb Press Association.) WANGANUI, March 9. A serious case of "ragging" is reported to have occurred in the railway engine sheds at 3.30 on Tuesday morning. An engine cleaner named Annabell, a lad about 20, either < went to sleep at his work or during the spell, and he was covered by other lads with "waste" soaked in kerosene, which was afterwards set alight. The joke assumed serious consequences, Annabell being badly burned about the face, hands, and upper portion of the body. He was brought into the Wanganui hospital, where his injuries have been attended to. It is understood an enquiry was held by the departmental officers at Taihape.
