WAIKATO CENTRAL SHOW.

The seventh annual show under the auspices of the Waikato Central Agricultural Association was held this week at Cambridge. The entries tor i thoroughbred horses numbered 32, j while, as usual, the roadsters were ; very numerous, there being no lees than 194 entries under that heading. Section 3, boys' and girls' ponies, was an interesting feature of the show, as there were 86 entries, and some of the ponies were very handsome creatures. There was aleo good competition in the special classes for hunters. Carriage and harness horses were also well represented. It is almost needless to state that the draught stock were numerous, and fine animals were shown, as that is always the case in the Waikato district. In cattle there was a falling off in the number of entries for Shorthorns and Herefords, but Jerseys and Ayrshires were well represented. Holsteins were also shown in large numbers. There were good exhibits of sheep, Lincolns and Leiccsters being fairly represented, and Romney Marsh showed an increase. Shropshires, on the other hand, showed a falling-off in the number shown. In pigs Berkshires and Tamworths were the most numerous. A few Black Devons and Yorkshires were also shown, but it is evident that the attention of farmers is_ being paid to the two former varieties. As at the Pukekohe show, the competition for butter was poor, there not being more than four entries in any one class. The farm produce also showed a falling-off, due no doubt to the long spell of dry weather earlier in the season. For a similar reason there were comparatively few entries in the horticultural section. On the other hand, there was good competition by the ladies for bread and scones, aleo jams and jellies. The attendance was exceptionally good, including a large number of visitors from the West Coast districts, and further down the I Main Trunk Line.
