IN GRATEFUL MEMORY.

TIIE LATE MR SEDDON. MEMORIAL PANEL IN ST. PAUL'S. THE DUKE OF ARGYLE'S EULOGIUM. (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.; (Pee Phess Association.) Received Feb. 11, 9.30 a.m. LONDON, Fob. 10. Two hundred people wore present at the unveiling of the memorial panel to the late Mr Seddon in the crypt of St.

Paul's. They included Mrs Morice, Mr Seddon 1 s daughter, the Mayor of St. Helens, Mr.T. Glover, member for St. Helens, Lord Strathcona, High Commissioner for Canada, Mr J. McCall, Agent-General for Tasmania, the Countess of Ranfurly, Major Robinson, and many New Zealanders. Prior to unveiling the panel the Duke of Argyle read cablegrams from Sir Joseph Ward and Mrs Seddon. Ho then delivered an eloquent eulogy. "This memorial," he said, "is crected as a mark of affection for the man and respect for the statesman." lie continued: "Following Sir George. Grey's brave advice, the late Mr Seddon became the most trusted leader in all Australasia. Ho spoke with no uncertain voice when the call came to prove the union of the I Empire, and New Zealand responded nobly, sending ten contingents to South Africa. Ilis spirit still guides New Zealand's councils. She was foremost in the desire to be represented in our fleets, and now in the centre of the Empire he served, wo honour his memory, wo gratefully record his services for his King and country, we revere his example, and deplore his loss." The Hon. Hall-Jones, on behalf of the people and Government of New Zealand, committed the memorial to the care of the Dean and Chapter of St. Paul's. Archdeacon Sinclair, in accepting the panel, said he "added the treasure io our historical associations."
