HOSPITAL BOARD.

The usual monthly meeting of the Hospital and Charitable Aid Board was held to-day. Present:—Messrs L. R. Bryant (in the chair), J. H. Vincent, G. Harford, H. Fowler, C. Voss, G. Kendall, W. Stubbs, D. Howie, W. G. Pearce, and J. A. Nash. CORRESPONDENCE. From the Treasury, stating that £279 7e had been remitted to the Board's account. —Received. From the Hospital Department, stating that a fresh allocation of representation was being made, also that the election of new Board would be held on 16th March next, and asking the opinion of the Board as to increase or reduction in number of members of the Board, and stating that it was proposed to increase the number of members to sixteen. —Members considered that the present number (twelve) was quite sufficient.. Mr Fowler complained about the grouping of the local bodies, especially the joining of Pohangina and Kiwitea. His County (Kiwitea) wished to elect its own member and allow Pohangina to have on® also instead of as at present.—lt was ; resolved to reply to the Minister that in the opinion of the Board twelve members were sufficient. From same, suggesting that arrangements should be made for extension of contracts expiring on 31st March to enable the new Board to call for fresh tenders.—The secretary explained that the contracts expired on 31st February, and had been re-let. He had notified the Department on the matter. From same, asking if first meeting of new Hospital Board could be held at present secretary's office. —Granted. From L. Pleard, with £2 on account of hospital dues; also from A. _L. Svensen, with £1 on account. —Received. _ From Wellington District Hospital, stating that there was no vacancy at present in Victoria Hospital for Evans. — Received. From Misses A. Tyerman and E. Collister, applying for appointment as probationers. —Names to be placed on the list. From Barraud and Abraham, Ltd., with circular re washing machine and offering trial of same. —Received.
