SPORTING.

NOTES. Snowfoot, a Now Zealand-bred colt, won the Flying Handicap at the Canterbury Park meeting on Saturday, says a Sydney cable. This last rtionth the New Zealand-bred Golden Cairn has run four seconds in Australia, but has so far failed to get on the winning list. Mr E. J. Watt has disposed of Separator to a Clive sportsman, the price being somewhere in the region of a hundred guineas. The little Seaton Delaval horse goes into Geo. Hope's stable. Criieinella- and Diabolo are the first favourites for the Wanganui Cup. Salvator, who recently died in America, held the American mile record, viz., lmin 35isecs, on a straight course, carrying 7st 121b. The mile record for the world is held by Caiman, who ran his mile in lmin 33 1-5 sees on an ordinary course and carried 9st 21b.

Waimoa, while doing three-quarter pace last Tuesday morning on the Hastings track, put his shoulder out badly, and it will bo some time before he will be able to race again. This horse was very well, and it had luck for his owner to lose his services for the remainder of the season. After racing at Wairoa, Centaur went very sore, and may not be able to start awhile yet. Mr E. Kemp has purchased Merrivving from Dave Kemp. This maro is galloping very well at the present time, although she is very fat; but with a couple of races 6he will soon be all right.

On Tuesday last, Gold Thread was ! shipped for Sydney. | Moloch recently changed hands, and ho is now trained by W. Davies at Trentham. It is Davies' intention to jump him. Gold Thread has been awarded Bst 81b in the Oakleigh Plate. 5g furlongs. Irishman heads the list with lOst 31b. Vi met with an accident last week, getting into some wire and injuring herself severely. It will be some time before this mare will race again. It is stated that All Red will probably make his last appearance on the turf in the Wanganui Cup. after which he will be taken to his owner's placo and put to the stud. Ringdove's sire, Collar, is represented in eleven different countries by winners, a performance which is unequalled. The famous Irish brood marc Morgatiette, dam of Galtee More and Ard Patrick, died in December. Noctuiform's yearling brother, who is running at Langlands, while playing the other day slightly hurt himself, but not seriously, and will be himself again in 3, few days. It will not be long before he is sent in to be put through his early preparations. Running in the same paddock at Longlands is a fine colt by Royal Artillery. H. Futcher, who has for a long time been connected with A. Atwood's stable at Feilding, is starting on his own account, and will do well. He has piloted Belario in all his important races, including the last Century Hurdles, which he won.

Parable recently got into some wire, but escaped with a few scratches. Audax, at Karamu, is going through some good work. It is to be hoped that this horse will stand a preparation. It is on the cards that Gold Lace will shortly pay a visit to the other side. By winning the Second Hurdles on Prophet at Takapuna, A. Julian now lead 6 T. Pritchard by one on the jockeys' winning list over fences. Both Iranui and Truganini paid small prices at Gisborne.

Tanekaha pulled up lame after running third in the Takapuna Cup, and it is doubtful whether he will be able to start again for some time. A nice half-sister to Parable by Campfire is running out at Ngatarawa, Hawke's Bay. The owner of Roosevelt is anxious to get rid of his horse, as he says he is shamefully treated by all handicappers. Azoff, who won the Handicap at Takapuna on the second day, is by Menschikoff out of Queen Cole. Stourton, a half-brother to Golden Gate by Birkenhead, won his initial race at Gisborne after getting a flying start.

Rawhiti, at the same meeting, was well supported when he won the Hurdles.
