EX-COMMONER COMMITTED FOR TRIAL. (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) (Per Press association.! Received Feb. 4, 9.30 a.m. LONDON, Feb. 3. Fred Horner, ex-Commoner for North Lambeth, was committed for trial for telegraphing to the Daily Mail, as its local correspondent, false news respecting Mr Lloyd-George's alleged hostile reception at Falmouth.
During the election campaign in January it was cabled that "the Cornish granite workers compelled the abandonment of Mr Lloyd-George's torchlight procession at Falmouth. They were incensed because orders for granite for the Forsyth naval base had been given to foreigners. There was an angry demonstration at the railway station, and the police escorted Mr Lloyd-George to his motor-car." Next day, however, Mr George denied the accuracy of the reports of his hostile reception, and declared that the torchlight proceission was abandoned owing to the risk to his health through driving in the night air.
