Router's correspondent at Athens reports that the prolongation of the political crisis has resulted in an alarming economic crisis. Capital is being withdrawn and left idle, or invested abroad. Debtors have ceased to pay, and business is at a standstill. Tho taxes, which are being collected with difficulty, are insufficient to pay the salaries of officials. MELBOURNE, Jan. 10. The Government is throwing open 100,000 acres of Mallee lands to provide homes for 150 settlers. SYDNEY, Jan. 10. Hardwicke won the State mile swimming cha/npionship by about 80 yards in 25 minutes 32j> seconds. The coal strike had upset all calculations, and a cable had been sent to the League's Indian agent on December l6t instructing him to stop sending any more immigrants.
