Blair Gowrie is a dark bay horse, 16 hands 1 inch high, with four black points, and has splendid bone, fine quality hair, a splendid temper, and is a sure foal getter. Blair Gowrie (392), bred by Mr J. Shearer, Willow Bank, Wheat6tone, near Aehburton. Sire, Earl o'Gowrie, dam Blink Bonny (843). Earl o'Gowrie, by R. Rainey's Vanquisher (214), by Young Vanquisher (imp.) out of Tebbie, by Prince Royal (130), imported from Victoria. Earl o'Gowrie took Ist as a two-year-old at Christchurch and Ashburtou. Blink Bonny, by Lord Salisbury, imported (114), dam Nell (1205), by Emperor (82), 2nd, dam Kate by Blackleg, 3rd dam imported from Victoria. Blink Bonny was full sister to the famous Flora Macdonald, who took 40 firet and champions and was never beaten. Blink Bonny was also a great prize-taker.
