Mr Hearst claims that his fresh batch of purchased letters will set fire to more prominent official reputations. The letters show that J. D. Archbold recommended judicial appointments which have since been ma'de, and also sent Mr Elcin, now a Supreme Court judge in Pennsylvania, when Attorney-General, a sum of £3000 in view of inducing him to Kill a measure then before the State Legislature. Mr Elciri denies that he received the money improperly or for influencing legislation.
