BUNNYTHORPE.

The sixth annual meeting of the Bunnythorpe Public Library was held in the library room on Saturday, March 14. Mr Arch. Campbell (Chairman of committee) presided. The secretary, Mr C. Anderson, in reading his rejiort and balance-sheet, stated that the library commenced the year with a credit balance of £11 lls Id. They had received subscriptions from members totalling £11 15s 6d, and a donation from Mrs Eberhard of £1 10s a vote of thanks being passed for same. The proceeds from a social totalled £10 2s, and grant from Government £7 18s 3d, making the total receipts I £42 16s 9d. The expenditure for the year amounted to £26 18s 2d, leaving a credit balance of £15 IBs 7d. The report and balance-sheet was adopted a.s aead. During the year thecommittee has purchased 107 books, niaking a total of one thousand books in the library. The membership at present was 40. A vote of thanks was accorded Messrs Arch Campbell (chairman), C Anderson (secretary) and J. Hensen (treasurer), also the rest of the committee for their services during the year, Mr Richardson for auditing the books. Mr J. Jepson, sen., was accorded a vote of thanks for providing the library with a map of the world and New Zealand. The following committee was elected: —Messrs Arch. Campbell (chairman), Espiner (secretary), Hensen (treasurer), Reid, Jepson, Scheidt, Hawker and Anderson. Mr Richardson was re-elected auditor.

I must congratulate the committee on their selection of books, the many valuable ones they have obtained making the library equal to any on the coast. Residents of the district would flo well to join this valuable institution. An enjoyable game of cricket was played on Saturday by the Bunnythorpe Club with a Roberts' Line team. The latter batted first and made 46 and the club made 103, thus winning by 57 runs. Our cricket club is playing Rongotea on the 21st at Bunnythorpe. Mr Suisted, who has been a resident of Hiwinui for the past- sixteen years, has sold out to Mr R. Port, the price paid being; about £26 per acre.
