SPORTING.

FEILDING RACES. SECOND DAY. The weather was again beautifully fine on Saturday, tho concluding day of the Feilding meeting, and the attendance, though not as large as on the preceding day, was very good. Appended are concluding details of the racing: — Gawain and Toa Tuhi were the withdrawals from the opening event on- the card, the York Stakes. Moriarty got well away and was in front all the journey, passing the post a clear length and a half in front of Oxton, who was closely pressed by the Foxton-trained Waipaku, who might have troubled the winner a bit had she got away on terms instead of losing,. with Bunyan a couple of lengths at the start. The latter showed up well at the far turn, but was "not dangerous after, nor was Splendid Idea, though tho field finished all well with one another.

The Nikau Hack Handicap proved another good thing for tho Conqueror colt Moutoa, who scored " very comfortably after disposing - of Tarina at the ' home turn. Catapult ran up into second place from the home bend, but could not reach the winner. Groenleaf finished very quickly and ran into third place on the post. Tho rest did" not get within striking distance. Thirteen of the fourteen acceptors in the Manchester Handicap went to. the post, Frisco being the only withdrawal. Irish Rifle again made play for a mile, leading his field by fully a length around the back stretch, where William was next to him, also out by himself, and then came Saga, Moral and the rest bunched, with the exception of Star Rose, Montigo and Rendrock. There was no alteration in the order when the field turned for home, though Irish Rifle had come back £t bit. With heads turned for home Moral commenced to move up j-rapidly, and at the big stand he- had ciit down .Irish Rifle and, going on, won com/fortably by' a length and a half, with the light-weight. Saga, close up third. After her came Uenuku, William, _Montigo', and Lyrist; in the order given; Rendrock last.

All the acceptors faced the starter in the Cheltenham Hurdles. Assayer set out to make the pace, and did so for a mile, when the second hurdle from home saw him pass out of the race,_ leaving Son Sim, who had been at his girths all the way, with a strong lead from Pushful and Le Beau. The latter threw out a strong challenge in the straight, but could not catch the Wairarapa horse, who won easily by a couple of lengths. Pushful was close up third, Gold Dust and Asteroid next.

The Rongotea Hack Hurdles was chiefly remarkable for the very easy win oi the Hawke's Bay owned and trained Pantaloon, who loft his field at the home turn and won as he liked from the top-weight, Royal Blue, anH Pardon, who ran into"T;hird place on the post. Te Uira and Cassiopea were last all the way. Tho former appears to have quite lost form, while Cassiopea . has been a back number for a long time past. Tho Welter Hack Flat produced a great race between Belario and the topweight, Daisy Paul, the pair streaking away from their field at the top of the straight and fighting out a desperate finish, which resulted in favour of The Officer gelding by a bare head. Specioßa was just in front of Tangeroa, and in order came Loiret, Scenery and Sylvan Park.

The Railway Welter saw a good race between Tho Stake and Chatterer, the latter getting home by a bare margin with a fast run from just inside the distance. At that point The Stake appeared to have the race in safe keeping. Martyrium put in a good race to the home turn, and then dropped back beaten.

The last race produced a field of 23, and was won by Ikon, a half-sister' to Gold Crest by San Fran.'
