NATIONAL DAIRY WINTER SHOW.

THE ENTRIES.

Some particulars are now available in respect to the entries for _ the Manawatu A. and P. Association s Dairy Winter Show, which opens on Tuesday, the 18th inst. The figures show that very satisfactory support has been accorded to the various divisions. The dairy factory exhibits will be located this year in No. 3 Hall, which has been tastefully decorated for the purpose. An attractive arch of butter boxes and cheese cases will be erected in the centre. The schools division will occupy the whole of one side of the hall, a frontage of some 150 feet, and will be an indication of the great interest manifested by country schools in the agricultural work now taken up by the Wanganui Education Board. The exhibits in the open horticultural division will oome from Hawke's Bay, Wairarapa, Horowhenua, Taranaki and Manawatu, and keen competition may be expected. There are nine collections entered for the Royal Horticultural Society's medals for apples and vegetables, and three for the Luxford Shield for farm roots. The fat stock division is- supported by exhibitors from the Wairarapa and Manawatu. The Champion Utility Poultry Breed Show, which is restricted to seven only, has drawn entries from prominent breeders in Auckland, Wanganui, Feilding, Carterton, Eketahuna, Wellington, Blenheim, Nelson and the Manawatu. The following figures show the entries in the various classes: — Dairy Produce. —Dairy factory butter, 91; dairy factory cheese, 59; farmers' butter, 8; factory hams and bacon, 4; dairy utensils, 3. Agricultural Division. —Fruit, 100; vegetables, farm roots and produce, 237; schools district farmers' competition and courts, 7: schools competitions and natural history, 46; home industries and preserves, 96; fat sheep and pigs, 108; milk testing competition, 17; hunters and ponies, 27. Poultry.—296.
