FARMERS' UNION.

The monthly meeting of the committee of the Palmeiston North branch was held to-day, Mr J. Balsillie in the chair. Present —Messrs H. J. A. Barber, L. R. Bryant, W. Anderson, W. Stubbs, L. Wallis, and Captain Hewitt and F. Maule. A circular was received from the directors of the Mutual Fire Insurance Association asking that branches assist by appointing members in the various districts to give reports upon pic-posals received for insurance.— Messrs Balsillie, Captain Hewitt, L. Wallis, and A. Matheson were appointed for the branch. Mr Stubbs reported upon enquiries made as to the formation of a Rifle Club. After discussion it was decided to communicate with the officers of the Linton Riile Club with a view of affiliating. Mr Balsillie, a delegate to the Provincial Conference, reported upon the business transacted, also i«pon the visit of the delegates to the State •Farm, which had proved very inteiesting.
