Hawke's Bay Autumn Show.

(Per Press Association); NAPIER, April 4. The Hawkc'a Bay Agricultural and Pastoral Society held their fifth annual autumn show at Hastings to-day. The weather was showery, but the attendance though not so largo as last year, was very good under tbc.circumstances. The entries were not so numerous as last year, but there was a splendid display of vegetables, particularly potatoes,- and a capital show of fruit, including the finest display of apples seen at any local show. The competitions resulted as follows: —Underhand Chopping Handicap: D. Johnstono (40sec) 1. Single-handed Sawing Handicap! A. Clinton (7sec) 1. Victoria Cross Race : Private Wells 1, Private Pownall 2. Stockman's Competition : W. A. Alexander 1. Standing Block Handicap Chop: F. Beekham (45sec) 1. Maiden Leaping. Match : A. Gregory's Hikairoa 1. Double.handed Sawing Handicap : Beekham and Benbow 1.
