Bowling.
Bowlers generally from the North Island will be pleased to hear of. the success of Prince's rink at the Dunedin tournament. This is the third year in succession that he has won the rink championship, and it is undoubtedly a very creditable performance. It was considered by bowlers that the rink this j*ear was not quite so strong as on the last occasion, but it is evident that it has been able to keep up the usual high reputation. Newtown having won the North Island banner and shield, and also the South Island championship, it will not be possible this year to have the colonial contest. Mr J. A. Nash, the secretary of the local club, sent the following telegram to Mr Prince this morning :—Palmerston North, bowlers heartily congratulate you upon your well-deserved win." A team, consisting of Townsley, Levin, Norton, and Hughes, have sent a challenge to the holders of the Wishart Feathers. The game will be played on Wednesday week. An invitation has been received from the Dannevirke Club for a few rinks from Palmerston to visit them at an date. The second round of the Handicap Singles and Championship must be played ofE by next Wednesday otherwise byes will be given or unplayed games struck out.
