DUNEDIN. This day. William McCracker, aged seventy, a retired bootmaker, while chatting and laughing with his family, was seized with a choking fit and expired before medical assistance could be summoned. Deceased, who was subject to heart failure, took a keen interest in public matters at the northern end of the city. His eldest son is serving on the Tapanui murder jury. CHEISTCHQjttCH, This Day. At the Supreme Court to-day Harriet Sleeman, charged with perjury, was discharged, the jury returning a verdict of not guilty.
